What is E-commerce?

E-commerce or electronic commerce is a method of buying and selling products or services using the internet as a medium. This form of commerce has become very popular due to the rise of the Internet and broadband, as well as the growing interest of users to buy online.

Having a website to promote your product or service will turn your business into a virtual store, available and open 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. In addition, it will allow you to form a portfolio of clients that could even be found on the other side of the planet.

To have a successful e-commerce it is necessary to carry out the process that goes from determining the products and services you want to offer online to redefining the processes of sale, distribution, collection, marketing and customer service. These are the following steps that you should not let pass before entering the world of electronic commerce.

  1. Define what type of product you are going to sell. It is necessary to define the type of product to be sold, as not all products or services are capable of being sold online.
  2. Find a specialized provider. In Mexico, there are several firms specialized in offering support that ranges from the design of a website to the installation and management of the software required to carry out transactions online.
  3. Design. This is not essential, but it is important, since the design will help your website to distinguish itself from the millions of existing sites and will help define how your site can be browsed.
  4. Secure your services. It is better to offer what you already have, even if you have a limited stock, and not advertise a product that you might not have in stock.
  5. Plan the logistics. Help yourself with mailing or parcel services for packaging, tracking and delivery of your merchandise.
  6. Establish a collection plan. Currently, in Mexico there are three ways of collecting deposits into a checking account: payments from a convenience store and by credit card or debit card.

Having a virtual store does not mean that you should forget about your customers; rather, a good website will help you have detailed information generated from your online store about your current and potential customers, so that you can offer them service during and after the sale. We recommend that you follow up on all emails, messages on social networks or calls generated by your page.
